Rules and Scoring

Pick 1 team or driver each race. You score the points that they do towards the constructor / driver championship (current point system). You can't pick the same driver or team twice in a season.

That is great to say, but it is probably easier to see with examples.

  • You pick Max Verstappen race 1 (Bahrain)
    • He wins the race (and scores 25 points for winning)
    • You get 25 points
    • You cannot pick Max Verstappen again for the rest of the season
  • You pick Alpine for race 2 (Saudi Arabia)
    • Pierre Gasly gets 5th (10 points)
    • Estaban Ocon gets 8th (4 points)
    • You get 14 points for this pick (10+4)
    • You cannot pick Alpine again for the rest of the season
  • You forget to submit a pick for race 3 (Australia) before qualifying starts
    • You get randomly assigned a pick available to you (Haas, for example)
    • Kevin Magnussen gets 18th (0 points)
    • Nico Hulkenberg gets 14th (0 points)
    • You get 0 points for this pick (0+0, check the math)
    • You cannot pick Haas again for the rest of the season
  • You pick Redbull for the Chinese Grand Prix (a sprint weekend)
    • Max Verstappen finishes 1st in the sprint race (8 points)
    • Sergio Perez finishes 5th in the sprint race (4 points)
    • Max Verstappen finishes 2nd in the Grand Prix (18 points)
    • Max Verstappen sets the fastest lap in the Grand Prix (1 point)
    • Sergio Perez spins out in the first corner and DNFs the Grand Prix (0 points)
    • You get 31 points for this pick (8+4+18+1+0)
    • You cannot pick Redbull again for the rest of the season

More details

  • Each player can select 1 team or 1 driver for each race of the Formula 1 season.
  • Each pick (driver or team) can only be selected for one race per season.
  • Driver and team picks are indepdendent (you can select Max Verstappen as a driver one race, then Redbull as a team pick the next race).
  • There are 30 picks available in a season (10 teams and 20 drivers) and 24 races. At the end of the season each player will have 6 picks that were not selected.
  • Each pick is due BEFORE qualifying starts that weekend.
  • Picks are due before the first qualifying session of the race weekend.
  • If you do not select a pick in time, a random pick (that you still have available) will be assigned to you.

Scoring

  • If you selected a driver, you score the same number of points that the driver earns towards the driver's chamionship during the race weekend.
  • If you selected a team, you score the same number of points that team earns towards the constructors's chamionship during the race weekend. This is the sum of the points that the team's drivers earned that race.
  • Sprint race points are included.
  • Fastest lap points are included.
  • If a driver does not race during the weekend (sickness, injury, etc.) and is replaced by a backup driver, you score the points for the backup driver.
  • If the driver does not finish the race (DNF) you score 0 points

Tiebreaking

  • First tiebreak: the number of picks throughout the season that scored points for that player (scoring points at more race weekends is rewarded).
  • Second tiebreaker: the driver furthest back on the Formula 1 Driver's championship that scored you points (scoring points with drivers further back in the final ranking is better).
